Donyell Malen emerges as a potential long-term successor to Liverpool legend Mohamed Salah

Daily Mail reports that Liverpool manager Jürgen Klopp is planning a move for Borussia Dortmund star Donyell Malen. The 24-year-old has been tremendous for the German club this season, contributing four goals and two assists in seven games.

Dortmund signed Malen from Eredivisie side PSV Eindhoven in summer of 2021. The Dutch international joined Dortmund after helping PSV finish second in the Eredivisie by netting 19 goals in 32 matches.

The Liverpool boss has admired the quality of Malen since he used to play for PSV. The Dutchman’s contract at Dortmund runs until 2026 and the BVB are seeking at least £52m for him.

The prolific right forward has incredible speed that distinguishes him from the rest. Malen is very versatile and he can play at any attacking position despite being prolific from the right attacking side.

The 24-year-old has great link-up play and dribbling ability to get past the opposition. He is also a brilliant passer and can play crosses which makes him unpredictable from the flanks.

Malen struggled to be as prolific in the first two seasons at Dortmund as he was for PSV in Eredivisie. However, this season, he has resembled the player who attracted interest from top clubs before joining BVB.

Mirror reported that Saudi Pro League club Al-Ittihad made an offer of £150m for Mohamed Salah during the summer transfer window. The Reds rejected the offer without giving any consideration as the Egyptian international is still a pivotal figure for Liverpool.

Al-Ittihad were reportedly willing to offer £200m for the Liverpool legend and are likely to return next summer. Salah has been one of the greatest players for Liverpool and the Egyptian’s influence has massive influence off the pitch.
