Christian Falk confirms Liverpool interest in 27-year-old superstar as potential Mo Salah replacement

Liverpool interest in Leroy Sane confirmed by SportBILD’s Christian Falk

Liverpool FC’s ongoing interest in Bayern Munich’s talent has raised eyebrows among the Bundesliga giants, particularly as they may anticipate yet another raid on their ranks in upcoming transfer windows. Leroy Sane, the former Manchester City player, is already contemplating his future in Bavaria, potentially paving the way for a summer exit.

Christian Falk of SportBILD has provided insight into the situation. While Liverpool show interest in Leroy Sane, the 27-year-old winger may not be at the top of their priority list as per the journalist. As things currently stand, Jamal Musiala, the talented 18-year-old German midfielder, takes precedence in Liverpool’s transfer plans.

The prospect of Leroy Sane potentially joining Liverpool becomes more feasible given the circumstances, both, for Sane and for the Reds as well.

With only a year to go on his contract [Transfermarkt] (in contrast to Musiala’s two-year commitment), Sane may be within financial reach for Liverpool’s recruitment team in the summer of 2024 as per Falk via CaughtOffside.

“Liverpool are also interested in the player [Sane]. The 27-year-old could replace 31-year-old Mohamed Salah if he leaves the club in the summer. Sané is quick like Salah and just as flexible on offence. But I heard Musiala is Liverpool’s priority – should they fail in their pursuit here, only then will Sané come.”

Leroy or Salah?

While Sane’s attributes, such as speed and offensive versatility, align with Liverpool’s style of play, the club’s interest in Jamal Musiala suggests a long-term vision for the squad. Musiala’s youthful talent and potential for development make him an appealing prospect.

The idea of Leroy Sane replacing Mohamed Salah, should the latter depart the club amid interest from the Saudi Pro League, presents an intriguing scenario for Liverpool fans. Both players share qualities that could make Sane a natural successor to Salah in terms of speed and offensive impact.

The prospect of Liverpool potentially raiding Bayern Munich’s squad is not new, as the Reds have a history of recruiting talent from top European clubs. While Sane’s future remains uncertain, the competition for his signature may intensify.

Liverpool’s recruitment team will likely assess the situation and weigh the benefits of both Leroy Sane and Jamal Musiala. The decision may hinge on Liverpool’s long-term vision for the squad and their strategy for securing the most promising talent in the football world. The focus though, should remain on retaining the services of Salah for as long as possible because he’s given the club so much.
