Liverpool learn Mohamed Salah injury update after being substituted against Ghana

Injury update as Liverpool star Mohamed Salah came off in Egypt’s 2-2 draw vs Ghana

Even though Egypt boss Rui Vitoria appeared to be reassuring about the injury situation with Mohamed Salah, the issue has most Liverpool fans worried. He faced a setback during Egypt’s African Cup of Nations clash against Ghana as he saw himself substituted in the first half due to a suspected hamstring injury.

Despite Salah’s premature exit impacting Egypt’s chances in the crucial match, Vitoria remained hopeful about the extent of the injury. The incident occurred in the 45th minute, leading to Salah’s substitution at halftime. The 31-year-old forward, who recently scored a crucial equalizer against Mozambique, displayed visible distress and received consolation from teammates as he left the field.

While the injury raises concerns about Salah’s availability for Egypt’s final Group B game against Cape Verde, Vitoria attempted to allay fears, stressing that the severity of the issue is yet to remain determined. (h/t The Mirror

“We don’t know yet what the problem is,”

“I hope it’s not a big problem. It was difficult timing for us because in the second half we could only make two substitutions. I think it’s not dangerous but let’s see.”

Injury update as Liverpool star Mohamed Salah came off in Egypt’s 2-2 draw vs Ghana.

The injury curse is real!

Back on Merseyside, Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp spoke about the issue in the pre-match presser ahead of our Premier League clash against Bournemouth. The obvious absentees are, well, obvious. But the likes of Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dominik Szoboszlai and Andy Robertson will not take part in the game against the Cherries. Rest seems to be fine, but here is what the manager had to say about the situation with Salah via the ECHO:

“We don’t know anything, we spoke last night and there was an assessment, they will do that and we will know more. At that moment he was shocked and couldn’t see why he was hit by something so intense. He felt it and we know how rarely Mo goes off so it is definitely something but I don’t have any more [info]. There will be an ultrasound and MRI and then we will see.”

For a player who has such a clean slate when it comes to injuries, the fact that Salah had to see himself substituted is a big thing in itself. Post-game videos on Twitter showed the 31-year-old walking around freely but as medical procedures go, we must stick to the protocol.

For Liverpool, Salah’s potential absence adds a layer of uncertainty, particularly with key fixtures on the horizon. The hope remains that the injury is not severe, and Salah’s return to action can be swift, ensuring he continues his influential role for both club and country.

Moreover, the impact of Salah’s injury extends beyond the immediate context of matches; it delves into the intricate dynamics of squad management and the resilience required in the face of unforeseen challenges.

There’s always something bad every international break for Liverpool.

In the coming days, as medical assessments unfold and more information becomes available, the Liverpool faithful will be anxiously awaiting updates on Salah’s condition. The hope remains that this setback is a temporary one.
