Liverpool star defends under-fire teammate amidst questions on productivity

Liverpool midfielder Harvey Elliott praises Darwin Nunez for his incredible work ethic amid criticism about his productivity

Liverpool star Harvey Elliott reveals the squad’s happiness for Darwin Nunez with the way he conducts himself despite criticism. Nunez has played a pivotal role for the Reds in the current season’s success despite his struggle with scoring.

The Uruguayan has been productive but rightfully faced criticism for his poor composure in front of goal. While he missed many easy chances, the 24-year-old has been productive with both goals and assists.

Darwin has played as the lead forward and as a left winger in the current season while maintaining a high work rate. He has been a continuous attacking threat while working hard on and off the ball and providing unselfish movements.

The Uruguay international has made 36 appearances in all competitions, contributing with 12 goals and 11 assists this season. Darwin has faced criticism for his poor composure and inability to finish easy chances despite his high productivity.

Nevertheless, he has been the instrument of chaos for the Reds and played an important role during the congested fixtures. Nunez has shown his technical and creative prowess this season, building upon his last season’s struggle.

The 24-year-old has a “never give up” mentality that fits the profile and culture of the Reds. His style of play and mentality has earned him respect and adoration from the Kopites.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com, Elliott praised Nunez for his all-round abilities and contributions this season. He said:

“For us, to have him someone like him where you know where he’s going to be; he doesn’t complain, some games he doesn’t score but he puts 110 per cent effort in. That’s all we can ask of him. He’s going from step to step to step now and for him, we’re all very happy. I think the whole world can see it now. It’s hard for him to come from a different country first and foremost, but to a country where he doesn’t know the language, he couldn’t speak it. Now he has taken the responsibility of learning English and you can have a conversation with him now, which is nice.”

Elliott provided a crucial assist to Darwin during the Premier League clash that ended in Liverpool’s 3-1 victory. The Reds are currently at the top of the Premier League table and taking every cup competition seriously.

Nunez has a crucial role to play in the latter half of the season as the Reds look to finish the season strongly. The Uruguayan has been productive despite the criticism and continued to hound the opposition rather than letting his criticism get the best of him.
