He started the game against Sparta on Thursday and helped his club secure an important away victory. Darwin scored his first goal in the 25th

He added another goal in the extra time of the first half after Alexis Mac Allister delivered a cross-field pass. Nunez scored a fantastic volley to beat the goalkeeper and register the third goal for the Reds.

The Uruguayan has 16 goals and 11 assists in all competitions from 39 appearances this season. Nunez faced criticism for his finishing yet he has continued to contribute significantly in goals and assists for the team.

Speaking to Liverpoolfc.com after the Sparta game, Elliott highlighted the impressive clinical finishing from Nunez to win the game. He said:

“He is a very clinical striker and if you put him in half-positions and half-chances he is more than likely going to take them. Today was another example of that. I’m over the moon for him and it’s great for him since he’s come back from injury.”

Elliott has been a pivotal part of the team under Jurgen Klopp as the Reds face a serious injury crisis. He has put in continuous shifts during this period, helping the club continue their strong run of form.
