Fabrizio Romano rubbishes Paris Saint-Germain approach for Liverpool star Luis Diaz
Football news expert Fabrizio Romano shuts down rumours about any approach from Paris Saint-Germain for Liverpool forward Luis Diaz. Diaz has been a pivotal part of the Reds’ success this season as they continue to challenge for trophies.
Despite facing numerous injuries, Liverpool clinched the Carabao Cup this season with a victory over Chelsea. Furthermore, they are going toe-to-toe with Arsenal and Manchester City in the Premier League title race, currently in second position.
The Reds are also active in the Europa League competitions, playing Atalanta in the quarter-final of the tournament in April. Diaz has been a first-team regular for manager Jurgen Klopp, playing dominantly on the left flank in a 4-3-3 formation.
The Colombian’s fluidity allows him to interchange places with his attacking teammates and play at other positions. He has played as a central forward and as a right winger according to the tactical requirements of the team.
The 27-year-old struggled with form since last season after returning from a seven-month lay-off due to a knee injury. He suffered the injury against Arsenal on 9th October 2022 and returned during the April game against Leeds United.
The Colombia international started the season strongly but suffered another personal setback due to his parent’s kidnapping. After returning from the special leave, he showed good form once his parents returned safely.
However, Diaz has faced criticism for being too selfish at times and dwelling too much on the ball. Although critics have questioned his productivity, the Kopites adore the 27-year-old due to his well-documented abilities.
Liverpool star Diaz not on PSG radar: Insights from Romano
Diaz has made 39 appearances in all competitions, contributing with 11 goals and five assists for Liverpool this season. Romano (h/t X) stated that PSG have not approached Liverpool for the 27-year-old and no talks have taken place.
The famed journalist further stated that the French giants have different priorities currently with no interest in Diaz. PSG’s main star Kylian Mbappe will leave at the end of the season and they are seeking a replacement.
