Liverpool unresponsive to Real Madrid’s interest in superstar defender, says Romano

Liverpool uninterested in Real Madrid keeping tabs on Trent Alexander-Arnold

Real Madrid FC’s interest in Trent Alexander-Arnold have been is clear as the La Liga giants are closely monitoring the full-back’s situation but Liverpool are yet to respond in any way.

Liverpool’s vice captain has had trouble with injuries this season, having missed 21 matches for a club and country hamstring injury and a torn lateral knee ligament. Although his talent shines when he is on the pitch, the 25-year-old has the capability to win games single-handedly on his day.

Despite an injury-ridden season, the England international has amassed 12 goal contributions in 29 games (across all competitions).

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has given a detailed update on Trent Alexander-Arnold’s links with Real Madrid. His words give basis to the rumors, and it will be a difficult read for the Kop.

Fabrizio Romano, speaking on The Debrief podcast, said, “Now, it is also true, from what I am told that Real Madrid have a concrete interest in Trent Alexander-Arnold.

“They are monitoring his situation. At the moment there is no direct contact with his agent or with the player because it is still too early. So Real Madrid are closely following the situation.”

“Let’s see the next steps. At the moment, from what I am hearing, there is no concrete negotiation between Liverpool and Trent Alexander-Arnold. That is why Real Madrid are keeping a close eye on the situation.”

“I think in next weeks, April, May, it will be important to understand if the new structure at Liverpool, with Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes, will move to offer a new deal to Trent Alexander-Arnold and how this conversation will go.”

The remarks hinting at Real Madrid’s interest in Alexander-Arnold due to the absence of ongoing negotiations between the player and Liverpool raise eyebrows. While transfer rumors are par for the course, the timing of these comments, coupled with the player’s contract situation, suggests a potential ploy to unsettle the player.

Liverpool’s fans will undoubtedly view these remarks with skepticism, especially considering Alexander-Arnold’s significance to the team and his roots within the club. The recent restructuring within Liverpool’s football department under Michael Edwards and Richard Hughes adds another layer of intrigue to the situation, as supporters await clarity on the club’s stance regarding contract negotiations.

As Anfield undergoes significant changes ahead of a new era, Fabrizio Romano’s comments shed light on Real Madrid’s potential interest in Trent Alexander-Arnold. However, he also emphasizes that no formal contacts have been initiated yet, and Liverpool intends to engage with the player once their new structure is solidified.

The delay in contract talks with key players like Alexander-Arnold carries inherent risks, as it invites speculation and interest from rival clubs. Nevertheless, Alexander-Arnold’s deep roots at Liverpool, coupled with his role as vice-captain, underscore his immense importance to the club.

While the likelihood of his departure seems slim, Liverpool must prioritize securing his long-term commitment to fend off potential suitors like Madrid. Tying Alexander-Arnold down to a new contract will not only safeguard Liverpool’s interests but also reinforce their status as a top destination for elite talents.
