Fernando Torres reveals his ‘favourite’ Liverpool player

The legend, Fernando Torres, names his favourite Liverpool player and says he is “special”

Mohamed Salah is Fernando Torres’ favourite player, with the former Liverpool striker praising the Egyptian’s efforts after previously crossing paths with him at Chelsea.

Torres, who returned to Anfield last weekend to participate in the Legends match, was asked about his thoughts on the current Reds squad. Like many others, he has been impressed by Salah’s achievements since he arrived at Anfield in 2017.

With 207 goals in 337 appearances, Salah currently ranks seventh on the Reds’ all-time top scorers list, and his impressive games-to-goals ratio surpasses many of the club’s legendary forwards.

Salah giving continuous record-breaking performances

Torres did not hesitate to compliment Salah

Few might have forgotten, but Fernando Torres actually played alongside Mohamed Salah during his time at Chelsea. Although their time together was brief, when reminded of this during a recent interview, the World Cup winner couldn’t have been more effusive in his praise for Mo.

Torres told the club media:

“We were teammates at Chelsea and I’m really, really happy for him, I’m in touch with him many times and I’m really happy that he breaks all my records.”

“I remember when he came to England and he was very young and didn’t have the minutes he deserved. He had to move to Italy and prove himself and find a special club for a special player.”

“You can see the results of what he did by himself. For me, he is the top player and one of the best players in the last 10 years. I always say this, my favorite player, I put him among the best players in the world in the last 10 years.”

Torres believes that Salah is one of the key factors behind Liverpool’s success and hopes that Mo continues to play for the club. The former Liverpool star expressed great satisfaction when Salah signed a new long-term contract with the Reds in 2022.
