Jurgen Klopp praises Alexis Mac Allister, saying the Liverpool star has exceeded expectations in his first season as Liverpool player
Alexis Mac Allister has received fantastic praise from Jurgen Klopp, who labelled his midfielder a ‘difference-maker’ in the Liverpool side. It’s a testament to just how far the Argentine has come in his first season at Anfield.
Mac Allister arrived from Brighton with a fair amount of hype around the midfielder, though things started slowly. This was due in part to the fact that the role of holding midfield was given to the star, which Mac Allister is unfamiliar with. Learning a new role in a new team isn’t exactly an easy welcome.
But the 25-year-old has quickly developed into one of the most important parts of Klopp’s team and continues to give phenomenal performances by scoring in each one of Liverpool’s last three games.
Remarkable performances by the star led to wonderful praise from the boss. Klopp said:
“Alexis is exactly the player I hoped he would be; super-influential, super-smart, great guy. He loves playing for Liverpool as well, which is really important.
He’s a rhythm-giver, he’s a difference-maker, can control moments of the game. Always there, always involved, nothing is too much for him, he’s really a top, top, top player. But we had that sense when we signed him and he fulfilled all our expectations and more.”
It is certainly obvious to back Klopp here. Mac Allister has consistently improved throughout the season, to the point where he’s a fundamental player. At this point, the Liverpool team is unimaginable without Allister.
The Argentina international arrived in a deal worth an estimated £35million from Brighton last summer as part of the Reds’ midfield rebuild and it is safe to say that the midfielder turned out to be worth the transfer amount.
With Jurgen Klopp’s departure from the club imminent, it seems as if Liverpool now plays with such inspiration that they would beat anyone. Liverpool now dominates in every game as they want to send their manager off in style.
