Jurgen Klopp confirms major injury boost for Liverpool as Curtis Jones is back in training ahead of clash with Sheffield United.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has offered an injury update on several players ahead of the visit of Sheffield United.

The Reds returned to the top of the Premier League after defeating Brighton on Sunday and now face the bottom-placed club at Anfield, hoping to solidify their position as championship contenders.

However, boosting the Reds’ hopes of securing what would be their 21st league win of the season, Klopp has confirmed midfielder Curtis Jones is in line to make his long-awaited return from injury.

Jones, 23, has not featured since he suffered an ankle sprain during Liverpool’s 4-1 win at Brentford in February. But Klopp has disclosed the good news that the star midfielder is back in training.

Klopp even provided injury updates on his other players as well, like Diogo Jota, Trent Alexander-Arnold, and Alisson Becker. Klopp said to the reporters:

“Curtis is in training, is in contention. Yes, that is it pretty much, The boys are doing well, Diogo and Trent are together in a group but it just looks like next week hopefully in parts of team training. No Ali, he looks good but in his mind as well, next week he will be part of team training.”

“Because Curtis is back it doesn’t mean he can play 90 minutes. Some players need momentum but how can you do that? It has nothing to do with Manchester United when we play Sheffield United, they have our full respect.”

The Liverpool boss has insisted that Curtis would not be able to play the full 90 minutes immediately, as players do need some time to catch the momentum back after a long injury period.

Jones is expected to play against Sheffield United, but he will most likely be a substitute. If he can get some minutes in, he may be able to start against Manchester United. Alexander-Arnold, Jota, and Alisson aren’t too far away either and will hopefully be able to play key parts in the title run-in.
