Ex-Arsenal star Robert Pires wants Kylian Mbappe to reject the Real Madrid move just like he did and join some other club like Liverpool instead

Kylian Mbappe is likely to go from Paris Saint-Germain to Real Madrid this summer, but Robert Pires has warned the France forward could have a last-minute change of heart.

Arsenal had brief links with a deal for Mbappe earlier this year. Premier League rivals Liverpool also became a possible destination for some time. However, reports suggest that if Mbappe departs PSG, he will most likely join Real Madrid.

Pires has left France to join Arsenal before, having signed from Marseille in 2000. The dynamic midfielder scored 85 goals in 284 games, winning two Premier League crowns and three FA Cups.

The former Arsenal player has disclosed that he, too, had the option to join Real Madrid but turned it down in favor of a move to Arsenal. Pires suggests that Mbappe do the same as he did 24 years ago.

According to the reports, Pires said:

“I’m sorry, Kylian, but you weren’t the first player to say no to Real Madrid, I don’t know what decision he will make in the end, but I turned Madrid down because I had two other options. I’m sure that if I didn’t have the opportunity of going to Arsenal or Juventus I would have gone to Real Madrid. That’s for sure”.

Pires went on to specify which Premier League side he would like Mbappe to join this summer instead of Arsenal and why. He went on, saying:

“I would like to see him at Liverpool, It’s a great family club, there’s a good structure, no pressure, the fans are calm. And I think a Salah-Mbappé partnership could be really explosive. I think he is capable of rejecting Real Madrid”.

Mbappe could re-think about his future at the end of the summer.

Liverpool is well-stocked in the offensive department, with first-team regulars such as Luis Diaz, Diogo Jota, Darwin Nunez, Mohamed Salah, and Cody Gakpo, but Mbappe might add another dimension to their squad despite Jurgen Klopp‘s likely departure in the summer.

Mbappé would be a dream acquisition for Liverpool fans and the ideal welcome present for the club’s new manager. Due to Premier League FFP constraints, the Reds look to be unable to achieve the financial requirements for the transfer.

It remains to be unknown whether the Frenchman will eventually plan on English soil, although it is very unlikely at the moment. Robert Pires hopes that Mbappe takes the same decision as his to join an English club.
