Potential Liverpool squad under Ruben Amorim

Sporting CP manager Ruben Amorim is currently most likely to replace Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool. Following the heart-wrenching announcement from the German tactician earlier this year in January of stepping down, speculation has always surrounded the club as to who might replace the outgoing boss.

Sky Germany recently revealed that the Portuguese international has an agreement in principle to take over the Reds in the summer, with an initial three-year deal. It is natural that some managers like taking their players along with them, so we might see a bit of that as well.

The likes of Ousmane Diomande and Goncalo Inacio have been on the Reds’ radar since waaaaay before the managerial saga. That can potentially come to fruition. A potential Liverpool lineup under Amorim might not be very different from Klopp’s lineup, but let’s see what that might look like.

What great changes?

As mentioned earlier, the lineup will not differ from now. Klopp has already built a team for the future, and the incoming manager will likely have more to deal with player management than the tactical side of things. However, there are a few gaps that need filling,

Paris Saint-Germain have shown constant interest in signing Liverpool winger Luis Diaz, and that is why he is not a part of the potential lineup. That opens a window for Cody Gakpo to claim his spot in the XI and make that left-wing position his very own instead of playing as a “Jack of all trades, and a master of none.” Let’s say Liverpool get a decent fee for Lucho.

The Reds can then divert that fee towards securing the services of a potent right winger, who can play second-fiddle to Mohamed Salah. Ben Doak is a strong option, but he is only 18 and it is natural for doubts to creep in whether or not Doak might be mature enough to play a rotational role so early in his career. Having said that, he’s a top player and his time will surely come.

Having said that, all of these players are mature enough to understand what roles suit them better. Any new manager, be it Amorim or even Nathaniel Phillips for all we care, has to ensure that everyone plays to their strengths and keeps the attacking style of football alive on Merseyside.

More Liverpool news

The potential Liverpool squad under Amorim may not see wholesale changes, but strategic tweaks and reinforcements in key areas could further enhance the team’s competitiveness. With a strong foundation already in place, the focus will be on fine-tuning tactics and maintaining the high standards set by Klopp to continue Liverpool’s pursuit of silverware.
