Liverpool is ready with their first signing of the Arne Slot era and slowly restructuring the staff
Liverpool is now entering a new era with Arne Slot coming in as new head coach and now their first signing of this summer, Ruben Peeters, confirmed as the new lead physical performance coach of the Reds.
After six years as a physical coach with Belgian team KRC Genk, he had previously spent the previous three seasons as head of performance at the Eredivisie club.
Sipke Hulshoff, a dependable assistant, will also join Slot. To facilitate the transfer, Hulshoff resigned from his position with the Netherlands. Had he been in Germany for the European Championship this summer, his arrival on Merseyside might have been delayed.
Liverpool is in the process of reorganising the AXA Training Centre and is presently recruiting for a variety of positions behind the scenes. On the last day at Anfield, up to seven staff members bid their farewell alongside Jurgen Klopp.
Peeters’ function seems to be comparable to that of Andreas Kornmayer and Andreas Schlumberger, who are also part of the group of employees leaving. Schlumberger was head of performance and recovery, while Kornmayer was head of fitness and conditioning.
Several signings are yet to arrive at Anfield as opening for a physical performance coach with an emphasis on strength and conditioning and a first-team physiotherapist have already advertised by the club.
In addition, Liverpool is searching for a new set-piece coach specialised as they want to get someone with experience in the position. Krawietz while working under Klopp was initially responsible for the duties.
