Liverpool had a sudden change of transfer plans while scouting for Koopmeiners at Atalanta
According to reports, Liverpool FC is keen on signing Ederson, the dynamic midfield player for Atalanta. This transfer target came up while Liverpool FC was scouting for Koopemeiners, their original aim at Atalanta.
The Reds have been admirers of Koopmeiners since a long time. Recently, Liverpool sent their scouts to watch their game scouting for Koopmeiners but his teammate, Ederson, caught the attention of the English club.
Ederson, 24, is a Brazilian international. In July 2022, he moved from Salernitana to Atalanta. Since then, the defensive midfielder has made 89 appearances across all competitions this season.
Ederson’s deal with Atlanta is set to expire in three years. His exceptional performances during a brief spell at the past club convinced Atalanta to invest €23 million to secure his services that summer.
The Reds have recently discovered the price tag for the Brazilian talent, which sits between £38-42 million. It shouldn’t really be a problem for them if they actually want to go ahead for the star.
The success of Atalanta throughout Europe has been a result of Ederson’s beneficial services. As Atalanta defeated Sporting Lisbon, Liverpool, Marseille, and Bayer Leverkusen to win the Europa League, his supremacy in the midfield was on display.
It’s been known for a while that Liverpool needs more legs and vitality in their midfield, and this has been a talking point. Arne Slot, the new manager, has prioritised defensive additions. Ederson’s prospective arrival might give the midfield area much-needed support.

The asking price of the star is also far within reach of the Reds so there is nothing to worry about. Just one aspect that could be an issue for Liverpool’s pursuit is that they are facing competition from other clubs like Barcelona and Tottenham for Ederson’s services.
