Liverpool close in on deal for Atalanta BC midfielder Ederson

As reported by French outlet Sports Zone (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are close to reaching an agreement in principle for Atalanta BC midfielder, Ederson. The 24-year-old has made a total of 53 appearances for the Italian side this past season.

Ederson spent most of his time playing as a central midfielder and excellent. He is excellent at distributing the ball and keeping control over the middle area of the pitch. He is also a threat in the final third as shown by the eight goal contributions he made.

The Reds aren’t the only ones who have been interested in acquiring the services of Ederson this summer. French giants, Paris Saint-Germain and Manchester United have also kept tabs on the player leading up to this summer.

However, it seems like Liverpool have beat everyone to the punch. The report states that the Reds tabled a bid of about £38m for the 24-year-old. Since they’ve reached an agreement on principle it wouldn’t be wrong to assume that the Reds will end up bringing him to Anfield.

Ederson would provide a huge boost to the team. He will also serve as an excellent option to fill in the gap left behind by Thiago Alcantara this summer. However, his signing could also end up being bad news for Burno Guimaraes.

Liverpool have been linked to Newcastle United midfielder, Bruno Guimaraes as well. Because of the Magpies’ FFP concerns, they could be forced to sell the player this summer. However, if the report about Ederson is to be believed, it would also mean that the Reds won’t be going after Guimaraes.
