Diogo Jota best XI heavily features Liverpool and Portugal players
In a clip released by the official Carabao Cup Twitter account, Liverpool forward Diogo Jota has revealed the best XI he has played with in his career so far.
The Portugal international, 27, endured an injury-hit 2023/24 campaign with Liverpool, featuring in just 21 Premier League games. In those, he contributed towards 10 goals and three assists as the Reds finished third behind Arsenal and winners Manchester City in the Premier League.
Diogo Jota, who has been picked by Portugal for the upcoming Euro 2024 in Germany, has been lucky enough to share the pitch with plenty of big names over the years. His lineup features some of the world’s best players in their positions, showcasing the dream team that would definitely strike fear into any opponent.
Ahead of the mega tournament, Carabao Cup Twitter asked Diogo Jota to give the best team he has played with. In goal, the 27-year-old picked his Liverpool teammate and Brazil international Alisson Becker.
Moving ahead, Liverpool star Trent Alexander-Arnold takes the right-back spot. Joao Cancelo, Jota’s Portugal teammate, is picked at left-back. Two of the Premier League’s best central defenders in recent years, Virgil van Dijk of Liverpool and Ruben Dias of Manchester City have been selected to marshal the backline.
Al-Hilal enforcer Ruben Neves will hold the fort in midfield. He will be joined by Liverpool’s Alexis Mac Allister and Manchester City’s Bernardo Silva in a quality engine room that could dominate the best of teams in Europe.
One of Liverpool’s best players, Mohamed Salah gets the nod on the right wing. The greatest goalscorer in the game, Cristiano Ronaldo unsurprisingly leads the attack here. For the final spot in attack, Jota cheekily picks himself and completes his dream team.

Currently, Jota is busy preparing for the European Championships having recently attained full fitness. He came off the bench and scored from the spot in Portugal’s 4-2 friendly win over Finland on Tuesday night in Lisbon, thereby gaining some valuable minutes in his tank. The 27-year-old has been a valuable player for Portugal in recent years and will aim to help his nation to Euro 2024 glory in Germany.
