Clinton Morrison feels Liverpool will cash in on Mohamed Salah if they receive bids in excess of £100m
Footballer-turned-pundit Clinton Morrison, speaking on BBC Radio 5 Live via Liverpool Echo feels Liverpool might cash in on Mohamed Salah if they receive £100m plus bids this summer amid interest from the Saudi Pro League.
There has been a lot of speculation surrounding the future of Mohamed Salah in recent weeks and months. The Egypt captain has entered the final 12 months of his contract at Anfield (Transfermarkt), along with captain Virgil van Dijk and vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold. But the Reds have dismissed the idea of selling their star forward this summer even if he does not agree to extend his deal beyond the summer of 2025.
The Reds turned down a mammoth £150m offer from Saudi Arabian side Al-Ittihad last year for Salah, thus, underlining how important asset he’s to the club. Al-Ittihad have continued keeping tabs on the 32-year-old’s situation, and although Liverpool have supposedly no interest in selling him now, Clinton Morrison expects the Merseyside giants to cave in if they receive £100m plus bids from the cash-rich Saudi Pro League or elsewhere.
“No Liverpool fan or the new manager coming in would want to lose Salah. His numbers playing from the right-hand side are fantastic. His numbers are ridiculous,” Morrison told on BBC Radio 5 Live (h/t Liverpool ECHO).
“Will they be able to get a player who can replicate what Salah can do? But he is getting to that age where if you get over £100m for him, I can see him leaving this summer.”
As stated by Morrison, Salah’s numbers for Liverpool have been ridiculous since arriving from AS Roma in 2017. He has bagged 211 goals and 89 assists in 349 games across all competitions, helping the Reds win every single trophy during the Jurgen Klopp era. Thus, it is understandable why the Reds have no plans of selling him even if the Egyptian king has entered the final year of his contract.
The club’s stance of keeping hold of Salah will certainly delight Arne Slot, who is working hard behind the scenes with sporting director Richard Hughes to rebuild the squad. The new Reds boss can now open-endedly count the 32-year-old as part of his plans for the upcoming season.

£100m is a lot of money and it would be irrational to not accept such a big fee for a 32-year-old with less than 12 months remaining on his contract. That said, however, our club simply cannot cash in on our most consistent and lethal forward over the last five years unless there is the certainty that we can instantly get an adequate replacement who will make an immediate impact for Arne Slot’s side.
