Liverpool are set to miss out on Maximilian Beier this summer
Liverpool FC’s pursuit of Hoffenheim forward Maximilian Beier appears to have hit a significant setback, according to Sky Sports journalist Florian Plettenberg via X. Despite recent efforts to bring the talented youngster to Anfield, Beier seems poised to remain in the Bundesliga, favouring a move to Borussia Dortmund instead.
After a quiet start to the summer transfer window, Liverpool’s activity is beginning to gain momentum. Under the guidance of new head coach Arne Slot, who replaced Jurgen Klopp at the end of last season, the Reds are looking to bolster their squad. The aim is to improve on their third-place finish last term and make a strong return to the Champions League following a season in the Europa League
Liverpool have been in discussions with Beier in recent weeks. However, the 21-year-old forward, currently plying his trade with Hoffenheim, is now expected to join Borussia Dortmund. Talks between Beier and Dortmund are reportedly ongoing, with negotiations with Hoffenheim set to commence soon.
Beier began his journey with Hoffenheim’s youth setup in 2018, making his senior debut in 2020. He spent two years on loan at Hannover, where he honed his skills, before returning to Hoffenheim in the summer of 2023. Last season, he enjoyed an impressive campaign, which caught the attention of top clubs across Europe.
In October, Beier signed a contract extension with Hoffenheim, tying him to the club until the summer of 2027. His performances at the club level earned him a senior debut for Germany, and he was part of Julian Nagelsmann’s squad for Euro 2024. Unfortunately, it appears that he is set to continue in his homeland in the near future.

For Liverpool, the focus must now shift to other potential targets who can strengthen the squad ahead of the new season. Arne Slot’s tenure promises to bring fresh ideas and new signings that can help the Reds compete at the highest level once again. Despite this setback, Liverpool must now soldier on and move to alternate targets.
