Liverpool moves swiftly as £65m put on Quansah replacement

Liverpool are planning to move swiftly after selling Jarell Quansah to Bayer Leverkusen by signing Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi. The Reds have earmarked Guehi as a strong candidate to replace Quansah and challenge Ibrahima Konate for the starting place.
Arne Slot has used the summer window to implement his plans after winning the Premier League in his first season. Under the new head coach, the Reds opted to sign only Federico Chiesa last summer and remained inactive during January.
Slot used the season to assess the squad he inherited from Jurgen Klopp, opting to use this summer to evolve. Earlier this summer, the Kop Times covered the problems that Liverpool are facing in the negotiations involving defender Ibrahima Konate.

With the Frenchman in the last year of his contract and Quansah joining Leverkusen for £35m, the Reds need reinforcement. At the same time, Liverpool’s defensive performance dropped significantly after the first half of the last season, highlighting underlying concerns.
The Reds could use the opportunity to sign a defensive player capable of challenging Konate or replace him if necessary. According to Express, Liverpool are planning to move swiftly for Palace star defender Guehi now that Quansah has joined Leverkusen.
Guehi has played a pivotal role for Palace in their FA Cup triumph last season and enjoyed a steep rise. Just entering the prime of his career, the 24-year-old already has a lot of Premier League experience and has proven his reliability in defence.
Guehi has also established himself at the national level for England, performing regularly since Gareth Southgate managed the national team. The Guardian reported that Palace are demanding around £65m for the Englishman, but Liverpool would ask for a price reduction.
