Is the dazzling £51.5m attacker the next Liverpool target amid rivals’ interests?

Liverpool are ready to battle Arsenal and Chelsea for Lyon youngster Malick Fofana to bolster their squad further this summer. The Reds have already signed numerous top players, as Arne Slot intends to defend the Premier League victory last season.
Slot won the Premier League title in his first season at the club without signing players other than Federico Chiesa. The Dutchman used his first season to assess the squad he inherited from the legendary Jurgen Klopp at the club.
Now that Slot understands the players he has and what he needs, Liverpool have made several key moves this summer. The Reds have already signed Florian Wirtz, Jeremie Frimpong, and Milos Kerkez to address important areas in the current team.

Despite winning the Premier League, Liverpool showed vulnerability in certain games, like the Champions League tie against France’s Paris Saint-Germain. One of the main issues that bothered Liverpool was the lack of pace and directness in their attacking flank.
While Liverpool have the likes of Luis Diaz and Cody Gakpo, they lack consistency in providing flair, pace and ball-carrying abilities. There’s no denying that on his best days, Diaz is unplayable, but those games come randomly and not often enough.
According to The Independent, Liverpool are ready to battle Arsenal and Chelsea to sign Lyon star Fofana this summer window. The French club have put a demand of at least £51.5m (€60m) to let Fofana go this summer amid interest.
Standing at 1.75metres, Fofana enjoys a low centre of gravity, using dynamic dribbling skills, quick feet and ball-carrying prowess. The 20-year-old backs his on-ball abilities with technical ability, creating chances with accurate passing and crossing in the final third.

While Fofana has a good technical quality, he is still a work in progress and with more experience and maturity, he can become a threat in front of the goal. The Belgian winger prefers to play on the left wing but has the versatility to play central if required.
