Jurgen Klopp has hinted that Divock Origi is ready for more at Liverpool after the Belgian’s 96th-minute winner against Everton in the Merseyside derby.

Jordan Pickford made a huge error trying to deal with a shot from Virgil van Dijk, and Origi was in the right place at the right time to score the goal.

The Belgian was in great form during the first year of Klopp’s tenure but Ramiro Funes Mori injured the striker in a derby in 2016.

Origi was never the same again after that injury, but Klopp said (h/t Liverpool Echo) those memories came back as the Belgian scored on Sunday.

“I said it to him, when I went to him on the pitch I had it in my mind.

“I’ve never forgot it since.

“Fouls and harsh tackles happen, but in his case it was so obvious that it was a break in his development.

“At that time he was outstanding. After that, it took a long time before he felt absolutely nothing.”

The manager added that even though Origi was ready for the Europa League final, he wasn’t free from pain.

Klopp further claimed that the player lost a bit of confidence and things changed for him.

The German highlighted some of the player’s strong points and added that Origi could do more at the club.

“When Div played at that time he was an unbelievable threat, he had speed, he was strong, remember the Dortmund game and stuff like that.

“So it was always in my mind about Div, that night (against Everton). And coming on tonight, he can finish that book and from now on everything will be fine again.”

Origi could be a great option to have come off the bench, but if he is anything like he was back in the 2015 season, we might see a few more goals from the Belgian.
