Real Madrid are determined to beat Liverpool to Kylian Mbappe

According to Spanish publication Marca (h/t Express), Real Madrid has desperate to beat Liverpool to the signing of French scoring sensation Kylian Mbappe.

Mbappe has been linked numerous times to Liverpool this season and the La Liga giants are looking to launch a multi-million dollar deal to keep the Reds at bay.

Having joined the French champions in 2017, Mbappe has gone from strength to strength at the Parc des Princes. Forming a daunting triumvirate along with Neymar and Edinson Cavani, the 21-year-old has gone on to score an incredible 90 goals and 49 assists in 120 appearances.

His current contract at PSG runs until 2022. In spite of talks being held regarding an extension, nothing has been signed yet. This has led to speculation that he could leave for brighter pastures in the summer.

A prime destination

Anfield is one of the in-demand destinations in world football today. Under Jurgen Klopp, Liverpool have established themselves among the continent’s elite once again and are also the defending European Champions.

This is a fact that was not lost on Mbappe, who earlier in the season commented on his admiration for the Reds. With Liverpool signing a new lucrative deal with Nike, there was talk of a summer deal in the works for the player.

It was reported that the Reds were in the market for a high profile player to launch the new deal, with Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho also mentioned.

According to the report, Madrid have made Mbappe their top summer transfer target and are desperate to get him. The youngster has a good relationship with Madrid and French legend Zinedine Zidane, which could swing the deal in their favour.

Zidane believes that it is Mbappe’s dream to play at the Santiago Bernabeu and is keen to make it a reality. Although the player is not keen to join before the summer of 2021, Madrid are likely to push for the transfer to be completed this year.
