Liverpool’s fear about losing Sadio Mane eased as Real Madrid turn to Erling Haaland
According to a report by Daily Express, Liverpool need not fear about losing star attacker Sadio Mane anymore. Although Real Madrid were believed to be interested in signing him, the report suggests that Los Blancos have now turned their attention towards Erling Haaland.
Zinedine Zidane’s first-choice option isn’t Mane, meaning there could be a glimmer of hope for his fans who want to continue seeing him in a Liverpool shirt.
Haaland, who currently plays for Bundesliga giants Borussia Dortmund, has become a transfer priority for the Real Madrid boss (h/t Daily Express). And hence, Liverpool have a stronger chance at retaining Mane’s services beyond the summer.
The fact that Haaland has scored 12 goals in his first 11 appearances for the German club has propelled him to the top of Zidane’s wish list. And the report adds that Real would be able to sign him if they shell out a fee in the region of £50million.
On the other hand, Daily Express suggests that the Spanish giants would need to pay nearly double of that for Mane. The 27-year-old is a prolific performer and has been one of Liverpool’s best over the years.
It is obvious that we would not want to lose him for anything less than a sizeable fee. From an economic standpoint, signing Haaland would certainly be more cost-effective for Real Madrid.
