Liverpool fans react to Mario Gotze links after Dortmund exit confirmed
Mario Gotze has confirmed that he will leave Borussia Dortmund when his contract expires this summer. This has once again sparked speculations of a potential reunion with Klopp at Liverpool (h/t Liverpool Echo).
Gotze came through the youth ranks at Borussia Dortmund and was promoted to the first-team by Klopp. The German played some of his finest football under our manager between 2010 and 2013, helping Dortmund to two Bundesliga titles during the period.
A failed move to Bayern Munich and health issues have prohibited the 27-year-old from fulfilling the potential that he had displayed in the early years of his career. And the German has confirmed that he will be leaving Dortmund this summer when his current contract runs out.
This has once again led to talks of a reunion with Klopp at Anfield. Gotze had been linked with a move to Liverpool ever since Klopp took over the reins at our club in October 2015 (h/t Liverpool Echo).
And the availability of the 27-year-old as a free agent has got the Liverpool fans talking over the possibility of a switch to our club on social media. While there are some in favour of a move, given that he will cost the club nothing, there are many who feel that he is not needed.
Here are some reactions from the Liverpool fans on the potential arrival of Gotze at Liverpool:
Does he even make the bench 🤷♂️

If it’s going to curb the development and game time of someone like Curtis Jones, then no.

His best years are absolutely miles behind him. Wouldn’t even have him on a free. Not sure he offers us anything we don’t already have?
