Transfer News: Liverpool could reignite interest in Duje Caleta-Car
According to transfer news from Express, Liverpool are prepared to reignite their interest in Duje Caleta-Car. The centre-back was a target for Liverpool in previous transfer windows but Marseille rejected their bids.
Liverpool endured an injury crisis for the ages last season. There were games when their entire first-choice defensive line was out injured. However, it was the injuries to Van Dijk, Joe Gomez and Joel Matip that hurt them the most.
Nat Phillps gave a good account of himself as a deputy but it was clear that Liverpool needed reinforcements in that area if they were to avoid anything like that ever again. The Reds moved swiftly to sign Ibrahima Konate but are still looking at more names to bolster the defence.
They have reignited their interest in a familiar name. Duje Caleta-Car was on the radar of Liverpool but Marseille refused to let the 24-year-old go.
However, now it has been claimed that Liverpool could return with a £13m bid, which would be enough to persuade the French club.

The Croatian is a good ball-playing defender who can pick out attackers with his passes. A consistent performer in Ligue 1, Liverpool could land themselves a bargain if they can manage to land him. Caleta-Car will be in action at the Euros, which should help Liverpool to get a closer look.
