Transfer News: Liverpool make their move to land Fiorentina ace Dusan Vlahovic
According to Italian outlet Tutto Sport via Anfield Central (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool have initiated contact with Dusan Vlahovic and his representatives amidst interests from other clubs.
AFC Fiorentina released a statement on October 5, explaining the situation surrounding Vlahovic. The Italians confirmed that have confirmed that contract negotiations have broken down and that the player wants to leave.
Rocco Commisso, the owner of the Italian club, has said that the club have done everything possible on their side. He said:
“As you know, Fiorentina made a very significant offer to the player. Our proposal would have made him the highest paid player in the history of the club’.
Liverpool, who want to sign the striker next summer, are not the only club interested in securing Vlahovic. European giants Juventus are among those keeping a close eye on the 21-year-old’s progress.
As the contract negotiations have broken down, it is clear that Vlahovic is looking to move elsewhere. Fabrizio Romano on Twitter has said that the Serbian is out of contract in June 2023. Heading into the summer of 2022 sans an extension considerably weakens Fiorentina’s hand in negotiations.
Having scored six and assisted once in eight matches this season, the forward has continued his form from last season. Vlahovic burst into clubs’ radars after scoring 21 goals and providing two assists in 40 matches. A tally better by only Cristiano Ronaldo, Romelu Lukaku and Luis Muriel.

The Fiorentina striker could be the man that Liverpool has been searching for to strengthen their frontline. He could provide a much-needed depth for the Reds as they are lacking in the number 9 department.
Vlahovic would arguably be an upgrade compared to the likes of Divock Origi who has been inconsistent for the Merseyside club.
