Liverpool target Youri Tielemans rejects new Leicester City contract offer
According to 90min (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool target Youri Tielemans is said to have rejected a contract offer from Leicester City. The Belgium midfielder has been a stand out performer for the Foxes ever since his move to the King Power in 2019.
Having joined Leicester from AS Monaco initially on loan in the January transfer window, Tielemans enjoyed much success and saw the deal made permanent that summer. The Belgian scored the winner in the FA Cup final last season and was also named the club’s player of the year.
Leicester have been trying to renew his contract for quite some time but it has not resulted in anything at the moment. The player is not short of options should he look elsewhere.
Several clubs are said to be interested in the Belgian international’s signature. Manchester United, Chelsea, Real Madrid, Atletico Madrid and Bayern Munich are the other interested teams in the fray.
The 24-year-old is claimed to be looking at options available to him at the moment. The Foxes player is also said to have shown no signs to suggest he wants to continue at the King Power Stadium.
Leicester meanwhile remains positive about the situation and are hoping that Brendan Rodgers would be able to convince the player to stay put. With top clubs interested in him, it could prove to be a tough ask.
Liverpool failed to replace Georginio Wijnaldum in the summer. Not only will Tielemans reinvigorate the Reds midfield but at 24 is a long term option who is already a proven talent in the Premier League.
