Transfer Update: Liverpool interested in signing Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde

According to El Nacional (h/t Liverpoolecho), Liverpool are keen on signing Real Madrid and Uruguay midfielder, Federico Valverde.

Federico Valverde has become a fan favourite after some of his heroics for Los Blancos. He was promoted to the first team from RM Castilla in 2018. The central midfielder played an essential role in the Madrid team’s La Liga title-winning season last year.

On the other hand, Liverpool is yet to find a replacement for one of the most reliable midfielders, Georginio Wijnaldum, who left the club this summer. Harvey Elliott did step in for a while before a serious ankle injury earlier this season.

This season the Reds again faced an injury dilemma- this time in midfield. James Milner, Naby Keita, Curtis Jones, along with Elliott, have all faced concerns with their fitness. So, the German manager could use a helping hand in the League’s testing phase.

The Uruguayan player showed his commitment and reliability in the Spanish super cup final against Atletico Madrid last year. He stopped Alvaro Morata’s run by a tackle from behind in a decisive moment of the game, and it helped them win the title.

The new manager Carlo Ancelotti has chosen Eduardo Camavinga as his prime weapon and is looking to bet on the french player. Thus, it is believed that the 23-years-old player has ‘fallen out of favour’ at Real Madrid and is looking for an exit.

It seems Jurgen Klopp is a big admirer of the central midfielder. The German would hope to secure the deal to solve some critical problems.

Including Federico Valverde in the Mersyside team would undoubtedly give the squad more durability and quality options. As the Reds are approaching the mid-season, the intensity and desperation would only grow in the coming matchdays. So they would need to have a solid midfield order which is achievable with Valverde’s qualities.
