Spurs manager Antonio Conte admits Jurgen Klopp has made Liverpool into a ‘monster’ since his move to Anfield

Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte, speaking after the draw against Liverpool (h/t Liverpool Echo), claimed that Jurgen Klopp has created a ‘monster’ during his stay on Merseyside.

His comments refer to the amazing job that the German has done to make Liverpool into a monstrous football team that is more often than not competing for the biggest titles. Having led us to within a point of winning the Premier League in the 2018-19 season, Klopp broke our league title duck the very next campaign.

He has taken us to four European finals since the time he has been here, winning against Tottenham themselves in the 2019 UEFA Champions League finale. Spurs showed LFC a lot of respect in yesterday’s encounter.

Despite needing a win to take the top four race into their own hands, they sat back and soaked up pressure for the majority of the game, even after Luis Diaz made it 1-1 on the night. And after the game, Conte seemed upbeat about the draw but made sure to praise his German counterpart.

“Jurgen has done a fantastic job, in seven years they have won a lot and he has created a monster in a good way. He has to be satisfied. But to do that you need the time.”

Conte praises Klopp

Before praising Klopp, Conte also made sure to emphasise why it was a decent result for his side- considering the game was played in a fortress that is Anfield. The Reds have been imperious at home and have made it a habit of not losing when on Merseyside.

“It isn’t simple to play in this moment against this team. Especially at Anfield, an amazing atmosphere with a lot of noise. It’s not simple against Liverpool and to see them play, to run with a lot of energy despite playing every few days, it is incredible.

Conte also masterminded a 2-2 draw against us earlier this season at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and has beaten Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City at the Etihad as well. Klopp also has just 1 win in six head-to-head encounters with the Juve legend.

This praise comes from a manager who won the Premier League in his first season in England with Chelsea, started Juventus’ Serie A dominance in the 2011-12 season and ended it himself with Inter Milan last year when he concluded their 11-year-long Scudetto drought. Klopp, meanwhile, has a CV he can be very proud of as well.

But Conte has also done a decent job at N17, pulling them back in the race for a top-four finish despite not having the most elite group of players in the world, at least on paper. The German manager, meanwhile, will now lead us to the FA final and UEFA Champions League finals later this month.
