Brazilian star Roberto Firmino reveals his decision on Liverpool future
While speaking in an interview as quoted by Liverpool Echo, Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino has shown strong intentions to continue at Liverpool.
The Brazilian has been a loyal servant to the Reds for several years in which he has proven to be one of the top strikers in the league. He has been a key component in Jurgen Klopp’s rebuild on Merseyside.
His output in this campaign has been hampered by injuries, however, the Samba star has shown convincing form whenever he has featured. He has scored 11 goals and provided five assists in 34 appearances across all competitions this season.
When asked about his future plans, Firmino revealed his gratitude towards Liverpool and suggested that he has no intentions to leave the club as long as he is enjoying his performance. A fan favourite, the Brazilian is loved on and off the field.
“I’m very happy here. I’m grateful to God that I’m here playing for a great club with great players, winning titles. And my will is to stay. My wish is to stay here. I want to be here. I’m happy here. So that’s all I can say, I want to stay.”
The 30-year-old signed a five-year contract in 2018 that is set to keep him at the club until the summer of 2023. Even though the Brazilian hasn’t penned an extension yet, his comment suggests that Liverpool might not have to worry about his renewal anymore.
How can Firmino help Liverpool?
Firmino has been a great servant to Liverpool and one of the crucial reasons for the team’s success under Klopp. Very few players have the same elegance and skills as the 30-year-old in the Premier League. He seems committed and motivated for future projects, which could be a boost to the team’s plans.
However, the same can’t be said regarding his attacking partners as the renewal of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane seem to be full of uncertainty. Amid such a situation if the African duo leaves soon, then the German manager would face massive problems.

It is great news for the board that they don’t have to think of Furmino’s renewal, which would give them the chance to focus on the contracts of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane. If the duo leaves, then the Brazilian’s value to the team might even increase considering he would be left as the most experienced striker in the team.
