Liverpool legend Steve Nicol makes Mohamed Salah transfer admission amidst contract standoff
Speaking on ESPN (h/t Liverpool Echo), Steven Nicol rubbished claims that Liverpool have put Mohamed Salah up for sale this summer.
There were claims that the Reds want to cash in on the former Chelsea and AS Roma star, with Real Madrid a contender for his signature. But according to LFC legend Nicol, such news is ‘rubbish’.
“I would love to know, who comes up with this rubbish? Seriously! Salah has already said ‘I am staying’. Liverpool have just let Mane go. Do you think they are going to let Salah go and then go to Real Madrid? Not a chance. Somebody is on the wind-up here. It’s not happening.”
Nicol can’t be more right. It is best not to speculate on things when the player himself has said that he wants to stay at LFC. Salah’s contract expires in the summer of 2023.
“I am certain. What club in their right mind lets Mane go and then lets Salah go as well? Sometimes I just think the things that come out are just rubbish. I think this is rubbish. It makes no sense.”
Nicol gets it spot on
And that is a problem that the Reds would want to sort out in the next few months. But for now, it would be in our best interests to let Salah have at least one more season here.
He continues to be our main attacker up front. Mane has already left and we have brought in Darwin Nunez, who doesn’t have any experience of playing Premier League football.
The Uruguayan can be eased into English football while Salah does what he does best- score goals. It is best not to read into any news that can create disruption in our camp right now.
Salah has at least 12 months left on his current deal and has been our star attacker since his move to Merseyside in 2017. What happens next is between the club and the player.

If he renews, then great. If not, then LFC will not stop existing. We already have Luis Diaz to man the left flank and we can count on Jurgen Klopp to replace Salah on the other flank with a man capable of producing a similar impact.
