Liverpool have held productive talks to sign Chelsea to sign Mason Mount
According to Neil Jones of Goal (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool have held ‘productive talks’ to formulate a deal to sign Chelsea star Mason Mount in the summer window.
The Reds are keen to take advantage of the England international’s situation at Stamford Bridge, where his contract is expiring next summer and he is yet to sign a new deal there. Chelsea would sell him this summer if an agreement isn’t reached.
Liverpool are willing to match the player’s salary demands and a possible move is on the cards in the summer. They will face competition from Manchester United, while the player’s reunion with Thomas Tuchel at Bayern Munich is a probability as well.
The talks of an asking price of around £70m are ambitious. Other reports have mentioned that Chelsea may demand a minimum of £50m which can be more feasible given the player’s contract situation.
Looking at Mount’s quality and demeanour as a player, he seems like a perfect fit for a Jurgen Klopp team. The 24-year-old is a technically gifted footballer, who works hard out of possession, can play in multiple positions and is a great presser in the final third.
He would not only add legs and freshness to the Reds’ midfield but also multiply the options the manager would have in different positions across the central and attacking midfield.
Although Mount’s form this season has been sketchy, just like most players in the Chelsea squad, he remains an excellent player who was very good for them in the last 24 months.

He would be perfect for us in every way possible. Let’s hope that the owners are ready to back Klopp generously so that he can sign players other than the potential addition of Jude Bellingham. Recent reports on that are positive!
