Liverpool are interested in signing Frankfurt midfielder Daichi Kamada

According to Italian journalist Matteo Moretto of Relevo (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool are interested in signing Eintracht Frankfurt midfielder Daichi Kamada in the coming summer window.

Kamada, who has been with the German club since 2019, has decided not to extend his contract there once it expires this summer. As a result, he will be available for free in the next transfer window.

The report states that along with Liverpool, German champions Bayern Munich are also interested in the 26-year-old. Spanish clubs, including Atletico Madrid, are also monitoring the situation.

Kamada is a Japanese international who has represented his country 28 times. He is an attacking midfielder who can operate as a number eight or as a support striker if required.

The former Sint-Truden player has got 13 goals and five assists in 37 games in all competitions for Frankfurt this season so far. He has played 22 of those games as a central midfielder in a two-man pivot in front of a back three.

The 26-year-old possesses excellent passing skills, great dribbling ability even in tight areas, loves having a pop on goal and works very off the ball.

If Liverpool decide to sign him, Jurgen Klopp will get a technically sound player who is a willing worker for the team and can play that box-to-box role in the middle of the park.

We expect a midfield reshuffle from the Reds in the coming summer. How much of that will happen, remains to be seen. Jude Bellingham is the primary target. But there is more to be done to restore some semblance in that department.

Kamada on a free transfer sounds a like great business not just financially but for the quality of the player available on that.
