Fabinho hails Alisson Becker for his brilliance for Liverpool vs Chelsea
Liverpool midfielder Fabinho hails goalkeeper Alisson Becker for showcasing his brilliance once again to keep a clean sheet against Chelsea.
It was the Brazilian’s 11th shutout in the league this season, which is remarkable considering how bad Liverpool have been from back to front.
If we look at the numbers, Alisson is only two behind the leader of clean sheets Nick Pope with 10 games to play. Although the Reds have mostly struggled in games against the mid-table sides, they would back themselves to shut a few of them out in the final stretch of this campaign.
Here’s what Fabinho said when asked about the team’s number one following the Chelsea game (h/t Liverpool FC website):
“It’s always important to keep a clean sheet, to defend good. I think we have to thank Alisson again.
“This season it happened regularly that we need Ali to help us. He’s been our best player this season and he showed again why. We have to defend better. “
Not many can argue that Alisson has been Liverpool’s best player this season. We all knew he is an excellent goalkeeper, who has been required to save the team more often than not in almost every game this time around.
It is frightening that he still has a chance to win the Golden Glove despite playing behind a back-line low on confidence and devoid of physical strength.
We should be thankful for the 30-year-old that there is a minute chance of us sneaking into the top four in the last part of this campaign.
Let’s hope that this isn’t the case from next season onward. Jurgen Klopp must be looking to undergo major surgery on the squad and make them work harder defensively to not give opposition teams so many chances per game.

That surgery has to start with the midfield department. We are linked with the likes of Jude Bellingham, Mason Mount and Moises Caicedo, while Alexis Mac Allister is the latest in the list of names the Reds could potentially add to the squad in the summer.
