Liverpool enquire about Sporting CP defender and PSG target Goncalo Inacio
Liverpool have already enquired about a move for Sporting CP defender Goncalo Inacio, who is also a target for Paris Saint-Germain (PSG), according to Le Parisien.
The Parc des Princes side have been linked with the centre-back for some time now. Luis Campos, the Ligue 1 outfit’s sporting director, likes him and has been monitoring the Portugal international for a while.
However, the Parisians are yet to make a concrete move regarding the 21-year-old. On the other hand, the Reds have already started discussions regarding the feasibility of his transfer from the Primeira Liga outfit next summer.
Inacio is tied down to the Lisbon-based club until the summer of 2026. The centre-back has a release clause of €45 million and Ruben Amorim’s team will not let him go for less than that.
The 21-year-old made his way through the youth ranks at Sporting and has established himself in their starting lineup over the last two campaigns. He is a left-footed defender and WhoScored.com cites passing as one of his strengths.
PSG have the likes of Marquinhos and Sergio Ramos in their ranks. Presnel Kimpembe has been on the sidelines for most of the season, though. As a result, Christophe Galtier’s team have had to rely on Danilo Pereira playing out of position.
As for Liverpool, Virgil van Dijk has not had a stable partner in the backline this season. Ibrahima Konate and Joel Matip have been in and out of the team due to fitness issues.
The Holland international himself is not having the best of campaigns. Therefore, the Anfield side have been shaky at the back, which was evident when we let a three-goal lead slip against Tottenham Hotspur at home.

With the Reds seemingly lacking depth in the centre-back positions, it looks like we need to reinforce the department. Inacio is a young and talented star with a lot of potential. But it remains to be seen whether we will pip PSG to the 21-year-old’s signature.
