Kostas Tsimikas not considering summer exit from Liverpool
Speaking to Greek publication Gazzetta (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool star Kostas Tsimikas is not considering a summer exit from Anfield. That is despite the fact that the 27-year-old has started just eight league games this term.
The Greek Scouser is a fan favourite on Merseyside and has played a key role in our domestic double last season. Tsimikas has largely served as Andy Robertson’s understudy and this has affected his ability to garner regular playtime in Red.
Tsimikas has more or less performed when given an opportunity but failed to play regularly. Understandably the Greek international isn’t completely on board regarding his lack of minutes.
“This is very difficult for me. Because many times I come here happy, full, ready to give everything. I go out on the field, I give everything and in the end I don’t play and that’s not easy.”
The 27-year-old still has two years on his current contract at Anfield. While he is no closer to displacing Robertson from the starting lineup, Tsimikas isn’t keen on going anywhere.
Despite being backed to leave Liverpool next summer, Tsimikas is keen to continue his journey on Merseyside. While that may or may not change in the future, the chances of our Greek Scouser donning another English team’s jersey appears inconceivable.
“To tell the truth, I haven’t thought of myself in the colours of another team, especially in England. I try to be focused and give my best for the team I play for.”
Tsimikas has made 59 appearances for the Reds across all competitions, contributing to 12 assists. Despite the limited opportunities, he has already etched his name into Liverpool folklore.
The 27-year-old famously slotted home the winning penalty against Chelsea in the 2022 FA Cup final at Wembley. Surely, with him keen to stay put, there will be more opportunities in the coming years.
Tsimikas is a sensational player to have in reserve. He isn’t just a consistent performer but also gets the club inside out. It would be a sad day when he finally opts to move on from Merseyside.

Most teams would only dream of having a quality left-back like him on their benches, but that is probably due to a very understandable reason – players of Tsimikas’ quality don’t usually want to be in a situation where they are warming the bench in the prime years of their career.
