Tottenham are keen on signing Chelsea defender and Liverpool target Levi Colwill
As per Evening Standard, Tottenham Hotspur have joined Liverpool in the race to potentially sign Chelsea defender Levi Colwill this summer.
It is revealed that Tottenham are in talks to sign Wolfsburg defender Micky van de Ven – a player similar in profile to Colwill, but they have the latter on the shortlist as well.
Liverpool were in the reckoning for van de Ven too. However, a couple of days ago, it was reported that they have cooled their interest in the Dutchman following the consultation between Jurgen Klopp and Jorg Schmadtke. The latter arrived at the club having worked at Wolfsburg until last season.
Coming back to Colwill, no one has an idea where his future lies. Chelsea are adamant that the Englishman is not for sale. But, the player hasn’t yet signed a new deal offered on the table. He wants to have a clear conversation with Blues boss Mauricio Pochettino first.
If there are doubts, it means that the 20-year-old is uncertain about his game time frequency at Stamford Bridge next season. When that becomes the case, he would most likely leave the west London club.
Forget what Tottenham have in mind, Liverpool need to be ready to pounce on any opportunity to sign Colwill this summer. The 20-year-old could be an ideal long-term signing.
The England U21 international has everything in his locker of talents to become one of the best centre-backs to ever play the game. Being left-footed gives him an advantage over others in the Liverpool centre-back department as we do not have one right now.

It won’t be an easy deal to do because Chelsea would do their best to keep Colwill or demand a very high price. Liverpool have to soften the player side and negotiate the price down in due course.
