Liverpool join an intense five-way race for Borussia Dortmund wonderkid Youssoufa Moukoko
Liverpool are competing with five elite clubs to sign Borussia Dortmund’s rising star, Youssoufa Moukoko, in the summer transfer window, according to the German outlet Sport Bild.
The striker made his senior debut for BVB at the age of 16 during the 2020-21 season, becoming the youngest player to score in the Bundesliga that year. Now 18, he is a regular part of Dortmund’s first-team squad and has even made his debut for the German national team.
Moukoko is considered one of the top talents globally, and many prominent European clubs, including Chelsea, have expressed their interest in signing him. Nevertheless, it has been stated that Liverpool have entered the competition to secure the youngster’s services and bolster their attacking options.
Bild also revealed that Dortmund, having recently extended their star player’s contract until 2026, are in a strong position to demand a decent transfer fee for the striker, setting their asking price at £35-40 million if they are forced to sell him.
The Reds will need to invest a significant sum of money if they want to bring the exceptionally talented youngster into their fold during the upcoming summer transfer window. It won’t be an easy task for either Premier League club, as Juventus, Real Madrid, and Barcelona are also considering making a move for Moukoko.
The German ace boasts a wide range of skills, including speed, strength, aerial prowess, playmaking ability, a natural knack for scoring in the box, efficient finishing skills, and a strong work ethic.
Moukoko is an immensely gifted player with the promise of developing into a top-tier striker in the future. Hence, acquiring his services would be an achievement for either Liverpool or Chelsea, should either of them successfully sign him.
The Merseyside club will be a perfect environment for the No. 18, and under the guidance of Jurgen Klopp, he could develop even further. With Darwin Nunez and Cody Gakpo already dominating the forward position, Moukoko may find it challenging to get his spot in the line-up.

He would still be a valuable asset for the future, and the club will give him enough time to develop before turning him into a regular starting XI player. However, it remains to be seen whether the Reds decide to officially express their interest, as there will be serious competition next summer.
