West Ham United are planning to challenge Liverpool for the signature of Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong
Liverpool are facing competition from West Ham United for the signature of Bayer Leverkusen star Jeremie Frimpong. Frimpong is playing a pivotal role as Leverkusen sits at the top of the Bundesliga under Liverpool icon Xabi Alonso.
The 23-year-old is the main attacking outlet for Leverkusen from the right-hand side and plays as a right-attacking fullback. He can play as a right midfielder and a right winger, participating in many productive attacks for his team.
The Dutchman has incredible pace, close control and dribbling skills to get past opponents and stretch the play. His unpredictability makes him hard to mark as he can go down the byline or cut into the channels.
This season, Frimpong has enjoyed seven goals and 10 assists so far in all competitions from 23 matches. The Dutchman’s performances have attracted interest from many top clubs around Europe and from the English Premier League.
Football Insider (h/t Liverpool Echo) reported that West Ham are ready to challenge Liverpool for the signature of Frimpong. Snatching him from Alonso poses a daunting task, and any potential move would occur during the upcoming summer.
The Reds would look to revamp their defence after completely changing the midfield during the summer of 2023. Liverpool have also signed attackers in previous transfer windows, leaving defence for the upcoming transfer windows.
Understand Bayer Leverkusen stance on Jeremie Frimpong is very clear: no intention to sell Dutch RB or any other player in January.

Vice-captain Trent Alexander-Arnold has played as an inverted right-back, but he is gradually shifting into the midfield role. Liverpool have deployed Trent’s deputy Joe Gomez to shift the 24-year-old into the number six role. He thrived in the position, dictating the tempo and creating threatening attacks as a deep-lying playmaker.

Meanwhile, the Reds have enjoyed success in developing young talents and giving them opportunities this season despite their ambitions. Conor Bradley played an inspiring cameo against Arsenal in the 2-0 FA Cup victory at the Emirates Stadium. He delivered another impressive performance in the Carabao Cup semi-finals’ first-leg game against Fulham which resulted in a 2-1 victory.
Despite the potential replacements lined up, Frimpong would make an inspirational signing due to his versatility. The Dutchman can play at any position in the right flank, and he would be a fantastic addition.
