Projected Liverpool Lineup To Face Southampton: The Belgian Beast To Spear-head The Attack

Predicted Liverpool Line-Up To Face Southampton

Liverpool will be hosting Ronald Koeman’s Southampton in their tenth Premier League fixture of the season on Sunday. It is Jurgen Klopp’s third match as Liverpool manager and he is still looking for a win. Both of his first two games ended in draws. Klopp has said in his pre-match press conference that he is aware of the threat possessed by Southampton and Koeman has said that he is confident of facing Klopp’s ‘different Liverpool’.

Klopp has been given a boost as Roberto Firmino and Christian Benteke are available for Sunday’s match. Daniel Sturridge remains a doubt for the game. Here is Liverpool’s Predicted lineup for their match against Southampton.

Liverpool

Goalkeeper: Simon Mignolet

Is there a doubt here? It is certain that the Belgian will be continuing in the goal ahead of Adam Bogdan who is not a big competition for Mignolet. He performed well against Spurs but had a quiet night against Rubin Kazan. The game against Southampton won’t be quiet or easy for the Belgian.

Defenders: Nathaniel Clyne, Martin Skrtel, Mamadou Sakho and Alberto Moreno

We don’t expect Jurgen Klopp to change this back four after some good defensive displays in the last two games. The Defense now looks better under Klopp. There are no second options for the full back positions, so it is certain that Clyne and Moreno will hold on to their spots in the starting eleven. Sakho has been solid for Liverpool and was their best player against Rubin Kazan, so he won’t be getting replaced unless he gets injured or sick. Martin Skrtel may not be as good as what he was few years back, but he is still a better option than Lovren.

Midfielders: Emre Can, James Milner, Lucas Leiva, Adam Lallana and Roberto Firmino

Emre Can scored  Liverpool’s equalizer against Rubin Kazan and has been impressive under Klopp. He will be keeping his place in the starting eleven. James Milner’s performances are not really encouraging but he is currently Liverpool’s captain in charge and Klopp won’t be benching him soon. Lucas Leiva has been performing his duties well and he has done quite well to claim a spot in the starting eleven. He did not start against Rubin Kazan but will probably start against the Saints. Adam Lallana was Liverpool’s best attacking threat in their match versus Rubin Kazan. He was good against Spurs last week too and with his amazing work rate he is expected to keep his spot in the starting eleven. Roberto Firmino returned from injury this week and played 15 minutes against Rubin Kazan. We expect him to replace Philippe Coutinho who is not in a good form. Firmino might replace Adam Lallana and Coutinho might keep his spot in the starting eleven. But considering their form it will be Lallana who is expected to start the game ahead of Coutinho.

Striker: Christian Benteke

Divock Origi was handed his full debut for Liverpool in the premier league by Jurgen Klopp last week against Spurs. He also started in the game against Rubin Kazan, but this week we expect Liverpool’s most expensive signing this summer, Christian Benteke, to start against Southampton. The Belgian beast who played 25 minutes in Liverpool’s game versus Rubin Kazan was unlucky to not score after he hit the post from a Lallana pass.
