Breaking: Liverpool Could Still Hijack Chelsea’s £8million Almost Confirmed Signing

The last time we heard Chelsea had swooped in and are progressing with an £8 million deal for Brazilian striker Alexandre Pato. Apparently the deal is for a three year contract. The Blues are in talks with Corinthians over the fee for the 26 year old player. The only obstacle standing on the way seems the work permit for the player. Although, it was earlier confirmed by Mirror

and Skysports that Chelsea have completed the deal.

Earlier Liverpool were linked with the player transfer with reports of a £11 million deal. While Jurgen Klopp has hinted that Liverpool are not following Pato, the player’s agent has insisted that Liverpool is still running after the player’s signature. As per his agent Veloz, Liverpool, Chelsea, Sporting and Benfica are all interested in the player and are very much in the race. He also pointed out that no formal bids have come in for the player.

“The January market is very limited,” Veloz told Brazilian news outlet UOL Esporte, before being asked which sides could sign the striker. Chelsea, Liverpool, Sporting [Lisbon] and Benfica. All four have a chance. The guys are working on getting an offer, but nothing Corinthians are yet to receive one,” he added.

This means the race among the four clubs are still very much alive and Liverpool, if acted quickly, could still sign the former AC Milan striker.
