3 Key Reasons That Give Liverpool An Edge Over Manchester United

Jurgen Klopp said in his press conference that this is the ‘mother of all football games’. The German couldn’t be more right. It really doesn’t get bigger than this. So what if the games are to played in the Europa league, Liverpool vs Manchester United was and will be the biggest game played in England.

The prize of winning this competition is too big i.e. a direct entry into the next season’s Champions League which realistically is not possible for both the sides. Klopp’s men have started to find some form in the recent month and looking confident game by game. On the other side, United have been way too inconsistent go tag them as the favourites for the tie.

Louis Van Gaal has a perfect record against the reds and that will be the biggest worry for Liverpool. Though LVG has become a laughing stock in the eyes of many, the Dutch has always produced results against the big teams. With all the injuries that United have, it will be interesting to see how Van Gaal will marshal his troops.

Jurgen Klopp will have to be tactically right on the spot if he wants an upper hand against his counterpart. Let’s take a look at the three things that we feel will give Liverpool advantage over Man United to guide them to a victory at Anfield:

1. Form :

Liverpool are unbeaten in their last three League games. The team is really getting together and playing as one, which can be said as a Jurgen Klopp team trait. The reds have lost one match in last 5 games that too on penalties against Man City. While United won four on a trot, they lost to West Brom in a rather meek way. Their victories have come against FC Midtjylland and Shrewsbury Town, so this will be a huge test for the Mancunians.

2. Coutinho – Firmino – Sturridge trio:

Firmino

Liverpool’s best attackers are expected to play together against the old foes in the first leg. This trio created havoc against Villa and it will be very difficult for the United defense to keep them at bay. This trio offers a constant threat and their understanding seems pretty good. It will be an interesting contest between United’s miserly defense against the side who have scored the most League goals in 2016.

3. Anfield Atmosphere:

European nights at Anfield are known to be a spectacle for all the football fans over the world. Today’s encounter will not be an exception to it. The Kop will be ready all the banners and scarves to welcome the home side and cheer them on to victory. The atmosphere will surely be intimidating for the rivals and the fans will surely act as a 12th man for Liverpool which gives them an edge over the Red Devils.
