Newcastle tried to sign Alexandre Lacazette in the January transfer window and has come out now and admitted publicly that he would like to move to Premier League. The news has Liverpool and Arsenal sit up and take note.

The 24-year-old has scored 15 goals in 34 games this season and 27 in 33 last season. This has made several European heavyweights take notice of the player and he was in high demand in the last summer’s transfer window. Newcastle’s £21.5 million bid was not enough to change the mind of Lyon hierarchy to sell the player and obviously Liverpool will have to cross that bid amount in order to sign the sharpshooter.

In his interview to Le10Sport, the player clearly states that he is interested in a move to Premier League and Lyon too are aware of the situation i.e. his interest. The reason why Newcastle could not sign him appears to be the player’s wish to play only for the top six Premier League clubs and Liverpool surely fits the bill. Excerpts from the interview given below.

‘A departure? Yes, I think the Premier League is a very attractive for a player but I know that to go, I have to play well this season. So i’m very focused and perhaps after that, I will leave.

‘I know it’s possible to go in the Premier League and Lyon is also aware.’
