Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic has been linked with a potential move to the Reds in the last few days and according to reports from the Daily Express
, the Reds are close to signing the £23.2million rated player.The Reds started chasing the player last week and are now closer to seal the deal for the player’s move to the Anfield. While Roma were leading the pack looking to sign the player, Liverpool’s entry in the race seems to have put Roma in the second place with the Reds turning out to be the favourites.
The player is in contract with Real Madrid till 2021, however, they are keen on letting the player go so as to free the amount that they pay for his wages. With Modric, Kroos and Casemiro all playing well, seems obvious that Real will be keen on offloading Kovacic.
The player is expected to bring more steel in the squad and while Jurgen Klopp looks to bring in more youth in the squad, Kovacic seems to be his best alternative herewith.
