Who Is This Ukraine Goal Scoring Maching That Liverpool Are After? Everything You Need To Know

The Merseyside club Liverpool are in a phase of transition. Their German manager did a fantastic job last campaign, but the side finished 8th on the Premier League table and after their defeat to Sevilla in the Europa League final, the side failed to qualify for the Champions League next season.

Now, with no European football to play for, the club will have to face some heavy rejection from the names they want to sign. So far, Klopp has completed three transfers, namely; the young and versatile midfielder Marko Grujic, the Cameroonian wall Joel Matip, German shot-stopper Loris Karius and the Senagalese sensation Sadio Mane. The German gaffer wasted no time at all to identify the holes in the squad, and reacted quickly.

Now, with new season awaiting, the manager will have to determine the other problems in the team. Liverpool have been linked with so many names recently. It is reported that Liverpool have been following Andriy Yarmolenko for a long time now, and they might launch a bid for the Ukranian in the coming weeks.

Who is Andriy Yarmolenko?

The 26-year-old Forwards/winger joined Dynamo Kyiv back in December 2006, and was instantly placed on its second team Dynamo-2. The versatile attacker made 37 appearances of the second team, scoring 9 goals and in 2008, he debuted for the senior squad and scored the winning goal in Kyiv’s 1–2 victory over Vorskla Poltava.

He has recently completed his 9th season with the club and has made 290 appearances for the side, scoring 113 goals. Yarmolenko is quite a versatile player, but gets engaged in some off the field battles and that sometimes troubles the club a lot.

Yarmolenko has represented Ukraine in U19’s, U21’s and Senior levels and has been capped 59 times in which, he has scored 25 goals.

Style of play-

Just after his senior debut for his club, many media houses in the country labelled him as a “new Sheva” (Shevchenko). Yarmolenko has a muscular built that allows him to go head to head against the defenders, and besides that, he has been praised for his accurate shooting skills as well as for his speed. Club’s vice-president, Yozhef Sabo, also praised the youngster, saying that “Yarmolenko has all the makings to become a top-level player.”

Yarmolenko has a great experience of playing at the top level, and he could be a great signing for Liverpool. The 26-year-old is still an unknown figure in the Premier League, but Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp is well aware of his skills. Due to his excellent physique, Yarmolenko is capable of holding the possession well, and due to his brilliant vision, he could set up a threatening move for the team.

The Ukrainian is usually deployed at wings from where, he cuts deep inside the danger area to take the shot, but sometimes loves to hug the touchline and deliver a pin-point cross into the box. Besides that, he can also lead the attacking line as a striker, as we all are aware of the fact that Liverpool are in desperate need of a striker, Yarmolenko might become a tailor-made product for the side.
