Strongest Liverpool Lineup Klopp Can Field At The Moment: Klavan To Compete With Lovren

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has made another defensive addition to the squad with the signing of the FC Augsburg player Ragnar Klavan. With the departure of Martin Skrtel and the suspension threat on Mamadou Sakho, the Liverpool boss was certainly looking to add strength to his defensive line-up. The signing of Klavan comes as a respite for the Reds as they were looking for a defensive stalwart. Kolo Toure has also left Liverpool and there was a major need to have a quality defender in the squad.

With the arrival of Klavan, we look at the strongest possible starting XI Klopp can field right now.

The Reds currently have the services of Dejan Lovren and the new signing Joel Matip as their first choice defenders. Ragnar Klavan usually played on the left center back position which is favoured by Lovren and thus he would be the ideal option to be considered playing as a replacement for Lovren or in place of him depending on his performance. Here is a look at the current Liverpool squad with the addition of Klavan.

Goalkeeper
Karius/Mignolet

Louis Karius has shown good signs ever since his arrival at Anfield and has featured in all the games. He looks likely to be the first choice goalkeeper for Liverpool this season.

Defence

Clyne, Matip, Klavan/Lovren, Moreno
Clyne had been the most consistent player for the Reds in the last season and he should be the right back for Liverpool this season. The new signing Joel Matip should join the starting 11 in the absence of Mamadou Sakho. Klavan could be the player to partner Matip but Jurgen Klopp might not look for a new defensive partnership and might prefer Dejan Lovren ahead of the new signing. Moreno should be the left back as of now unless Klopp manages to sign Hector or Chilwell.

Midfield

Can, Henderson
The midfield stays pretty much the same as last season with the likes of Jordan Henderson and Emre Can. Marko Grujic is showing enough promise but he should be a second choice midfielder.

Attack

Coutinho, Firmino, Mane, Sturridge
The addition of Sadio Mane is a major boost for the Reds as he should be the first choice on the right wing. Firmino and Coutinho will pair up in the center and on the left similar to last season and Daniel Sturridge should be the man to start up front for the Reds.
