Music To Liverpool Fans’ Ears – Jurgen Klopp States The Final Club He Will Manage And His Retirement Age

Jurgen Klopp has revealed what his retirement age would be but Liverpool fans should not fear. The 49-year-old was brought to the club last season and has been able to turn things around at Merseyside. The German, like every person, seems to have decided that he will stop at the age of 60.

The former Mainz manager was speaking to Germany’s RedaktionsNetwerk (cited by talkSPORT)and stated he could not see himself manage another club at the age of 60.

The German also hinted that the Premier League club could be his final team when it comes to management.

“I certainly will (return to Germany) to live, but I don’t know if I will be back there as a coach yet. The day will come when I say, ‘thanks, it was a pleasure’.

“It’s very, very unlikely that I will still be sitting on the bench when I am 60. And, if at the end of my career I only got to coach Mainz, Dortmund and Liverpool, then it will certainly have been three fantastic clubs.”

Music to Liverpool ears

These statements certainly would be great news for Liverpool fans. Klopp is one of the highest rated managers in the world and even Bayern Munich were reportedly

looking to sign him up.

Should Klopp keep his promise and stay at the club till he is 60, the German would be one of the longest serving managers in the history of the club. Even recent stalwarts like Rafa Benitez only lasted six years in the job.

Klopp though would have to reciprocate some of the great records of former managers. For all the talk about gegenpressing, the proof will only be when Liverpool start picking up trophies. The 49-year-old has turned Liverpool’s play around and the fruits of that hard work are finally starting to show.

Liverpool are on a fantastic run and are the second highest scorers in the league with 16 goals. They lie fourth in the table and would be looking for a fifth consecutive victory when they face Swansea. The Reds did have a poor time in Wales last season but Klopp has drilled his side well.

In the pre-match press conference, the German did state that there were “no excuses” this time around. And with the Reds not playing any European midweek games, another outstanding display is on the cards.

The Reds though will be wary of the fact that they were poor against Burnley a few weeks ago. If Liverpool are to win their first Premier League title, they need to dispatch of teams such as Swansea with ease.

The Merseyside club did lose the corresponding fixture last season but look a completely different beast now. Klopp might be willing to stay here for another 11 years before he retires but if Liverpool play in this way for the rest of the campaign, the Premier League title could be finally coming to the Reds.
