(Photos) Liverpool Duo Return From Injury And Start Training Ahead Of West Brom Clash

There was some good news for Liverpool after the dire 0-0 draw against Manchester United on Monday. Liverpool Echo has reported that Georginio Wijnaldum, who had missed the game against the Red Devils, made a return to training and he wasn’t the only long-term absentee who trained with the first team.

Joe Gomez, who has had poor luck with regards to injuries in the past season or so, trained with the team as well. These returns should help Jurgen Klopp out as the side looks ahead to their next game in the Premier League.

The Reds did miss Georginio Wijnaldum in the match against the Red Devils. Even though they had a German international in Emre Can taking Wijnaldum’s place, the movement and link up play with the rest of the team was not up to the mark.

Liverpool did struggle to mount an attack against the team from Manchester and hopefully, the Dutch player will be fit enough to start against West Bromwich Albion at the weekend.

Big money signing does make a difference

Many did balk at the price Liverpool paid to bring Wijnaldum to the club. Even though the Dutch midfielder was one of the best players for Newcastle United last season, he was extremely inconsistent and even was relegated.

That seems to be a thing of the past as the midfielder isn’t even playing in his preferred number 10 position but is starring for the club. His movement and passing have been great for Liverpool and the midfield trio of Adam Lallana, Jordan Henderson and Wijnaldum have been one of the talking points for the Merseyside club.

The money paid to sign the Dutchman is starting to pay off and the only thing that is missing from his game at the moment is goals.

A return of a rising defender at Liverpool

Another player who made a big name for himself last season was Joe Gomez, until injury ensured he played no further part in the campaign. Even though he was not a left-back, the youngster did exceptionally well and will be looking to continue his progress under Jurgen Klopp and hopefully even get a few games under his belt.

The problem for Joe would be the fact that Klopp would not want to change his starting XI and that would mean playing James Milner and even Alberto Moreno in the position. The 19-year-old will be hoping for a chance as a right-back or even a centre-back and if he continues to perform in training, the youngsters could well get a chance to play for Klopp.
