Transfer News: Liverpool Linked With £100k-a-week, £44 million Italian Star

One of the Serie A’s best attackers could be on his way out of the league. Napoli winger Lorenzo Insigne seems set to leave the club and Liverpool and Tottenham could be interested in signing the Italian.

Insigne is rumoured to have a contract till 2019 but he has been looking to increase his stay at the club. The problem for the Italian seems to be his wages, as Calciomercato

, via Mirror, has reported that he is asking for a salary of over £100,000-a-week, something that hasn’t impressed the Napoli owner, Aurelio De Laurentiis.

Paying any player in the Serie A a six-figure salary isn’t easy owing to the dwindling revenues for the clubs. Even though Napoli is one of the bigger teams in the Italian league, stomping that kind of money would not be easy for them.

De Laurentiis has slapped a price tag of £44 million for the 25-year-old. Even though he has set a high price tag, it would not be a surprise should Insigne end up moving away from the club. It might even be too tough for other Serie A clubs to sign him, barring Juventus but Napoli would be naïve if they are to sell their next best player also to the Old Lady.

The best option for the 25-year-oldcould be a move away from Italy and Liverpool could be a great option for the Italian.

Merseyside could be calling for the Naples-born star

Liverpool had been linked with the player for a season or so but nothing concrete took place between the two parties. This time, it could be perfect for the Italian to move away, after all, De Laurentiis is known for making snappy decisions, which are often detrimental to the club.

If Insigne does not have his way, he would probably be sold off in the next window or even in the summer when a bidding war can take place. While the sale would deplete Napoli, Insigne would be a perfect player for Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool.

The 25-year-old is blistering with regards to his pace and is known for his passing abilities. Insigne already has three assists to his name this season in the Serie A and his eye for that perfect through ball could be just the right kind of player on the other side of the Liverpool attack.

The Reds already have one of the best attackers in Sadio Mane and Insigne would be a perfect foil for the project that Jurgen Klopp is building. If Liverpool are to get the best players in the world, they will have to spend big and hopefully, Lorenzo can be the next big thing under the German manager.
