Liverpool and Tottenham are being linked with a move for Moussa Marega. The 25-year-old striker is a Malian international and has been playing for Vitoria Guimaraes this season. The striker is on loan at the club after signing for Porto this season and has been scoring goals for fun.
Marega might not be the biggest name in the Portuguese league but his form has certainly caught the eye of many clubs and the two Premier League ones seem to be interested. The Malian has scored eight goals in 10 games for his new club and the funny part is, Marega hasn’t had the greatest of scoring records for his various teams but he seems to be the right man at the moment.
Porto know the value of players and they do have a history of selling their stars for large valuations. Marega, according to the Express Sport, has a buy-out clause of £36m, which is extremely high for a player who is just starting to shine.
Marega is called the Terminator, and if he keeps on scoring at this rate, he might not be sold by Porto without a fight.
The 25-year-old can play across the line but his best position is that of a central striker. Liverpool have always used players who can switch positions and provide a lot of pressing to the opposition. And their attack has been incredible this season as the Reds are the joint-top scorers in the Premier League.
The likes of Philippe Coutinho, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino have formed a holy trident in the attack. Even the midfield of Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum and Adam Lallana have been playing well and have pushed the Reds to greater heights this season.
Bringing in another striker, even in the summer, would probably not be the biggest concern for Jurgen Klopp. The manager already has Daniel Sturridge, Divock Origi and Danny Ings in the side. Ings and Origi are two players who will fit into the side seamlessly. The pair is still young and can be moulded as the kind of strikers that Klopp wants.
Sturridge is the one player that has a big question mark over his future at the club but even he would be a better option at the moment than an unknown quantity from Portugal. Klopp might want to keep his cards close to his chest but this is one rumour that does not seem to be close to coming through.
